Charleston Bachelor Party Itinerary & Guide (2026)

Charleston is one of the best bachelor party destinations in the country, and it’s not hard to see why. You’ve got world-class golf, a legitimate nightlife scene on King Street, booze cruises on the harbor, and some of the best restaurants in the South all within a few miles of each other.

The hard part isn’t convincing your crew to come here. It’s figuring out how to fit it all in once you get here. Reservations fill up, options pile up, and before long the group chat is a mess of conflicting opinions and no actual plan.

This guide cuts through all of that. We’ll tell you exactly when to visit, where to stay, what to do, and how to budget for it, so you can spend less time planning and more time actually enjoying Charleston.

Day-by-Day Bachelor Party Itinerary for Charleston, SC

Thursday: Arrive and Ease In

If your schedule allows it, fly in Thursday afternoon. Most groups only have two or three people arriving early, and that’s actually an advantage.

Use that window to make a grocery run and stock the Airbnb. Pick up beer, frozen pizzas, eggs, bagels, and anything else that’s easy to throw together. You’ll thank yourself Saturday morning when half the crew is hungover and nobody wants to wait 45 minutes for brunch.

Thursday night is also the best time for your one nice dinner of the weekend. Here’s why: people haven’t overdone it yet, everyone is sober enough to actually taste the food, and if the full group hasn’t arrived yet, you can get into harder restaurants with a slightly smaller reservation. Book Hall’s Chophouse for steaks, FIG for farm-to-table Lowcountry cuisine, or The Ordinary for the best seafood in the city, and make the reservation as early as possible. These spots fill up fast.

Friday: Golf or Booze Cruise, Then Your Big Night Out

Friday daytime comes down to two options.

Option 1: Golf
Book a tee time at Patriots Point or splurge on the Ocean Course at Kiawah if your group is serious about it. One downside to golf is that you split into carts, so you’re not hanging out with everyone at once. Combat this by switching cart partners at the turn after the first nine holes. More importantly, build in time at the 19th hole, meaning the bar at the clubhouse, after the round. This is where the round gets recapped, stories get told, and the whole group finally gets back together. Don’t skip it.

Option 2: Booze Cruise
If keeping the group together matters more than golf, a Charleston booze cruise is the move. Everyone stays on the same boat, the drinking is built in, and you’re back at the house by late afternoon with plenty of time to reset.

Either way, plan to be back at the Airbnb by late afternoon. Shower, change, and keep dinner casual. Coconut Joe’s has locations at both Isle of Palms and Folly Beach, so if you’re staying at either one it’s right there and perfect for this. Otherwise just heat up those pizzas or fire up the grill. People have been drinking all day and there’s no reason to spend $200 a person on dinner and drinks when everyone’s already been drinking all day.

Friday is your big night out on King Street. A table at Republic Garden and Lounge is the move if you want a club atmosphere. If your group prefers live music, Henry’s on the Market is a great anchor spot. The Cocktail Club is worth starting at for drinks before you commit to your final destination.

One rule: get to your last bar by 10pm. King Street does not reward bar hopping after 10:30. Once the lines form, you’re spending the rest of the night waiting outside instead of inside having fun.

Saturday: Day Club or Bar Hop, Then Your Call

If you’re visiting during summer: Palma Day Club is the answer. They bring in world-class DJs every Saturday and you can book a cabana that fits anywhere from 10 to 20 people. It keeps the whole group together, the setup is built for a party, and you don’t have to think about where to go next for hours. Book the cabana in advance.

The rest of the year: Do a daytime bar hop with a party bus. This is the best time to hit multiple spots because there are no lines and you can actually move around freely.

Start at Shem Creek with lunch at Saltwater Cowboys, then head over to Red’s Ice House for the waterfront vibe. Check out our full guide to Shem Creek bars for the complete breakdown. From there, the afternoon is yours. On Air rooftop has a DJ and great views. Sharehouse has solid food, outdoor patios, and big garage doors that open up the whole space. Henry’s always has live music. If your crew leans toward craft beer, the brewery circuit is a great alternative.

Either path will have you drinking most of the day. By Saturday evening you can go back out on King Street if the group has the legs for it, or call it and let the weekend wind down naturally. Both are legitimate outcomes.

Sunday: Go Home

Book an early flight. Seriously. The longer you stay Sunday the worse everyone feels and the less there is to do. Get home, sleep in your own bed, and start looking forward to telling these stories at the wedding.

When to Visit Charleston for a Bachelor Party

Charleston’s subtropical climate is one of the reasons Charleston has visitors year round.

You can get great weather in all 12 months of the year.

However, if you want the best chance of warm sunny days that aren’t too hot for golf, we recommend planning your bachelor party in either the Spring or Fall.

Summer can get a bit too hot

The summer can also be very nice, but with an average high of 89 degrees it can often be too hot (especially if you plan on day drinking).

If you decide to visit during the summer, we recommend a booze cruise from Tiki Tours!

Budget Tip: If you wanna save some money and don’t plan on going into the Ocean, the cool season lasting from December 2nd to March 2nd is still a great time to visit and you will save huge amounts of money on airfare, lodging, and even greens fees!

Where to Stay in Charleston for a Bachelor Party

Depending on the size of your group and budget, there are several different areas and types of lodging that can accommodate your bachelor party in Charleston.

  1. Downtown Charleston — In the city’s heart, this area offers easy access to top attractions and eateries. Ideal for small groups who prefer luxury hotels like The Dewberry.
  2. Mount Pleasant — A beachy vibe 15 minutes from downtown. Offers both upscale house rentals and affordable hotels, great for varied budgets.
  3. Isle of Palms — Home to luxurious mansions with ocean views. Perfect for a lavish stay with 10+ guests, it’s 30 minutes from the city, blending relaxation with city access.
  4. Folly Beach – Similar to Isle of Palms, although more of an actual town. It is also cheaper than IOP and perhaps a smidge closer to Downtown.
  5. James Island — A calm locale south of Charleston, it’s filled with spacious rentals. Ideal for those seeking a relaxed atmosphere with proximity to city fun.
  6. Kiawah — Golfers’ paradise for large groups an hour from downtown. From the elite Sanctuary Hotel to various rental homes, it’s a treat for golf enthusiasts and relaxation seekers.

1. Downtown Charleston

Downtown is the obvious choice if you want to be able to walk to all of the restaurants and bars. However, it’s also the priciest option and there are not many large house rentals.

This means it’s ideal for smaller groups who want to ball out in a beautiful hotel and walk to everything but don’t need a big house for after parties.

Our favorite hotels downtown are The Dewberry, Hotel Bennett and the Grand Bohemian.

A great affordable option is The Inns, a collection of multi-family residences that are listed on Airbnb. They can accommodate any group size, from a couple to hundreds of people!

2. Mount Pleasant

Mount Pleasant is a beautiful beachtown approximately 15 minutes from downtown Charleston with plenty of big house rentals that are perfect for bachelor parties.

Depending on your budget there are several options that have pools and are walking distance from the beach.

There are also several 3 star hotels for great value if you prefer to save your money for the activities!

3. Isle of Palms

Home to many of the nicest and largest Airbnbs in the area, IOP is a no-brainer for your next bachelor party mansion.

Many of the homes have large decks, swimming pools and beautiful views of the ocean.

Isle of Palms pool and hotel/mansion

It’s also only 30 minutes away from Downtown Charleston, making it significantly closer than Kiawah.

There are also no gate fees or as strict of rules as there are in Kiawah.

4. Folly Beach

This is the only true beach town in the area and has a fun beach culture. It is also the best deal for large groups if you want to be by the Ocean.

There are also more shops and restaurants within walking distance than IOP and Kiawah!

5. James Island

Similar to Mount Pleasant, only South of Charleston instead of North, this is another great place to find some big house rentals.

Just remember that you will want to figure out your Charleston transportation before you start drinking!

6. Kiawah

Whether you stay at the famous Sanctuary Hotel or one of their many rental homes, you will love Kiawah. This is especially true if your main reason to be in the Lowcountry is to golf.

Kiawah Ocean Golf Course

However, if you plan on spending most of your time in the Holy City, we recommend staying a little closer to Downtown Charleston. Kiawah is about an hour away!

Charleston Dining Options

Dining options include a plethora of delicious restaurants, rooftop bars, and breweries that are all worth checking out in between activities.

As we all know, dining in large groups can be challenging so we recommend checking out our separate article, Best Charleston Restaurants for Large Groups.

It goes over the best private dining rooms, restaurants with standard large reservations and counter service options.

If you don’t have time for another read, some can’t-miss restaurants include Leon’s Oyster Shop, any of the 167s, Hall’s Chophouse and FIG. All of these tend to fill up, so make your reservations as early as possible!

1. Ride a Party Bus

Whether you’re staying in one of the beach towns (Mount Pleasant, Isle of Palms, Kiawah) and need transportation to downtown Charleston or staying downtown and want to go to the beach or a golf course, a party bus is always the most fun way to get from point A to B.

This is especially true for bachelor parties that are large in number and personality.

Double Black’s Party Bus

We may be a little biased but there is no better Charleston Limo Service than Double Black Transportation.

Along with standard hourly rates, we also offer half-day and full-day rates that allow time to be shuttled between the beach, shopping, dinner and the clubs without breaking the bank. We also offer round trip rates if you only need a ride Downtown and back from your Airbnb!

2. Brewery Hop

There are over a dozen breweries in the Charleston area and they all offer something unique. Check out our guide to the best breweries in Charleston here!

If you can only visit one we recommend Palmetto which is the oldest brewery in Charleston and also the closest to downtown!

However, if you have some time to make it into a crawl then you can head north from there and hit Holy City, Revelry, Munkle, Edmund’s Oast and the Brew Lab.

Edmund’s Oast has the best food and Holy City has the largest outdoor area!

3. Ride a Booze Cruise

Is there anything better than going on a boat for your bachelor party? We’re not sure, especially not in Charleston!

Saltwater Cycle is Charleston’s best booze cruise, both for the price and the amount of fun.

They offer two different types of boats, one is a cycle boat where you have the option to pedal, while the other is a classic tiki-style boat.

Both options are designed for optimal day drinking and allow you to buy individual tickets or rent out the entire boat.

The rides are also typically only 90 minutes long, keeping the price low and your schedule free!

4. Find a Beach

Charleston is surrounded by pristine beaches and you should definitely check out at least one while you’re here.

Our favorites are Isle of Palms and Sullivan’s Island if you want a laid-back experience, while Folly Beach is the place to go if you want more activity.

Sullivan's island beach

That is a true beach town! Be wary, alcohol is prohibited on all of Charleston’s beaches.

5. Dine on Southern Specialties

There is an awesome food scene in Charleston, with many restaurants specializing in Lowcountry cuisine as well as traditional seafood. FIG is our favorite fine dining restaurant, while we also love 167 Raw Oyster Bar for all of our shellfish fans out there.

No Charleston restaurant list can be complete without mentioning Leon’s, which serves the best fried chicken and southern-style seafood in the area.

Oysters and drinks

Though finding a large reservation at any of these restaurants can be tricky, check out our guide to the best Charleston large group restaurants. And if you’re looking to save a buck, check out our guide to the best Charleston happy hour.

6. Dance at a Club

Don’t get us wrong, bars are great but sometimes a club is a better fit for large groups. Reserving a table is the best way to ensure that your entire group will be let in and have a place to hang out.

While there are many great nightlife options in Charleston, Trio is the only true nightclub where A-list DJs play when they’re in town, including Dillon Francis this Spring.

There are tables available for large groups as well as GA. For a full breakdown, check out our insider’s guide to Charleston nightlife

We would be remiss if we didn’t mention Republic Garden & Lounge, the setting for Bravo’s newest hit Southern Hospitality. This place is one of the liveliest scenes in all of the Lowcountry!

7. See a Show at Palma Day Club

The best new place to watch live music is Palma Day Club. They have world-class DJs playing every Saturday from Memorial Day to Labor Day as well as live DJs on most fridays and Sundays. Private cabanas can accommodate 10 – 20 guests, and their phenomenal food is provided by CHS Wagyu.

8. Go Golfing

There are tons of good golf courses in the Charleston area and you should definitely make time in your itinerary to play a round or two.

The best course that you can get on is the Ocean Course on Kiawah Island. Golfweek ranked it #9 of the best public courses in the United States in 2021.

Unfortunately, their greens fees cost accordingly at a whopping $600 per person. Luckily, there are a lot of other great courses nearby with much lower prices including Shadowmoss and Patriots Point.

If you enjoy the 19th hole just as much as the first 18, consider booking Double Black for your golf transportation!

9. Day Drink

Sometimes you don’t need an activity besides drinking in the sun and Charleston is the place to do it.

Make sure to stay an extra day and spend Sunday day drinking on the rooftop of Uptown Social. Trust us, you won’t regret it! That is until Monday morning.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best time of year to plan a bachelor party in Charleston?

Charleston boasts a subtropical climate, making it a prime destination all year round. For the best blend of warm sunny days without excessive heat, Spring and Fall are ideal. However, for budget-friendly options, the cool season from December 2nd to March 2nd provides substantial savings on airfare and lodging.

How Many Days Should a Charleston Bachelor Party Be?

Three nights: Thursday through Sunday. Not everyone will make it in Thursday and that’s fine, don’t wait on them. It’s actually nice to have a smaller crew the first night, easier to get into a good restaurant and it lets you spread the weekend out naturally instead of cramming everything into two nights.

How can large groups make restaurant reservations in Charleston?

Securing a reservation for a large group in popular restaurants can be challenging. We recommend booking well in advance and considering off-peak times. Check out our guide to the best Charleston large group restaurants for more details.

Are there any unique bachelor party experiences exclusive to Charleston?

Absolutely! Charleston offers a blend of history, southern culture, and oceanic activities. You can book a boat ride to check out Fort Sumter, enjoy the lowcountry cuisine, or dive into the city’s rich history with guided tours. The options are endless!

What transportation options are available for groups in Charleston?

For large groups, especially bachelor parties, booking a Charleston party bus is an excellent option. Not only is it spacious, but it adds to the fun vibe with mood lighting, sound systems, and more. Other options include local taxis, rideshares, and rental cars.

How Does Charleston compare to Nashville as a bachelor party destination?

Charleston offers a more laid-back, coastal vibe with beach access, rooftop bars, and upscale dining. It’s ideal for groups who want a mix of relaxation and refined fun—think golf, boat days, and fresh seafood. Nashville brings the honky-tonk energy with Broadway, live country music, and non-stop nightlife that’s perfect for groups looking to party hard all weekend. Both cities are great, but it depends on whether your crew is more into bar-hopping and live music or coastal charm and classy cocktails.

Are there restrictions or permits needed for beach parties in Charleston?

While Charleston’s beaches are a popular choice for daytime activities, remember that alcohol is prohibited on all its beaches. Ensure you’re aware of all beach rules and regulations before planning a beach day.
